About 6 years ago I remember walking into the kitchen and declaring to my wife, "Starting next year, I want to travel. As a family... you, me, and the kid. I don't care where we go, because I haven't really been anywhere... so we'll just pick a place and book the tickets."
At that point -- age 38 -- I'd only been out of the country once. In high school I spent nearly three weeks in Italy, and it changed me. It was something I felt was missing in my life and I wanted to find a way to make it happen.
More than that, I wanted it to be a big part of my son's life.
And so that very next year we booked our first trip abroad as a family. And we've done a big trip every single year since. And this summer, we went to Spain. And on this week's episode I'm sharing my three big takeaways from that adventure.
